Fields of Gold Crochet Blanket Pattern by Janie Crow - Digital Version

Specification

13 balls of Stylecraft Life DK

4.0mm (US-G/6) & 4.5mm (US-US7) crochet hooks used.

Finished Blocked Measurement: approximately 120cm (47 1/4in) xĀ 120cm (47 1/4in)

[Description][JaneĀ loves botanical drawings and so a few years ago she purchased a fabulous book from Kew Gardens with the most wonderful illustrations. The pattern features sunflowers, hellebores and opium poppy seed heads and it made her think of theĀ fields of sunflowers she walked through on a lovely french holiday a few years ago.

Jane hasĀ always loved sunflowers with all of their connotations to heat and sunshine. Vincent Van Gogh, whose series of sunflower still life studies are infamous, saw theseĀ stunning flowers as a symbol of friendship and gratitude, so using them as theĀ inspiration for a designĀ was inevitable. As wild poppies are commonplaceĀ in fields of sunflowers,Ā it was logical that this design should feature them too.Ā ]
